Recensioner

“Worth adding even to an already bulging Beethoven collection."
BBC Music Magazine

“Dausgaard's Eroica is in my view by far the best performance so far in his Swedish cycle, confrontational, uncompromising and swift yet with an air of finesse about it. I'd be tempted to make his a modern first choice ..."
Gramophone, September 2006

"Thomas Dausgaard has indeed approached the “Eroica" freshly and free of influences and preconceptions: detail is crisp and clear (antiphonal violins an aural bonus), and the dynamic range is wide, making this is an “Eroica" that sweeps away cobwebs, and convinces that an authentically aware approach, and a chamber orchestra, can deliver a devastatingly good version of this great work. This is what we have in this acutely balanced account, both powerful and lucid; fast speeds, yes, but never rushed, and with a real sense of identification and new discovery“
Fanfare, July 2006

"Best of all, the performance of the symphony is outstanding--swift in the first movement (in the manner of Gielen or Scherchen) and in general extremely exciting and intense. The use of chamber-sized forces playing full-out at the climaxes somehow fits the music better than many versions with larger ensembles, in which the work can sound too small ... And I can't praise Dausgaard highly enough in the finale, so often a let-down, but here full of charm, wit, and surprising gusts of passion in its later stages ... Simply splendid"
