Has a vacancy for Principal Viola, shared position
The position is full-time but the responsibility as leader is shared

From January 1st 2021

The Swedish Chamber Orchestra is a full-time ensemble of 39 players based in the city of Örebro (2 hours west of Stockholm by car or by train). The orchestra has its home in the Örebro Concert Hall, where each member of the orchestra has a private practice room. The orchestra gives some 90 concerts a year including national and international touring (Lincoln Center, BBC Proms, Salzburger Festspiele, Europe and Japan etc). The orchestra records for BIS, Hyperion, SIMAX, Chandos etc.

The audition will take place in Örebro Concert Hall, Sweden on the 3rd and 4th of September 2020

The repertoire for the audition will be:

  • Stamitz or Hoffmeister - Viola Concerto in D Major
    1st movement with cadenza of your own choice
  • Bartok or Walton - Viola Concerto
    or Hindemith - Der Schwanendreher
    1st movement only
  • Orchestral excerpts and ensemble repetoire
