The Swedish Chamber Orchestra is a full-time ensemble of 39 players based in the city of Örebro (2 hours west of Stockholm by car or by train). The orchestra has its home in the Örebro Concert Hall, where each member of the orchestra has a private practice room. The orchestra gives some 90 concerts a year including national and international touring (Lincoln Center, BBC Proms, Salzburger Festspiele, Europe and Japan etc). The orchestra records for Sony Classics, BIS, Hyperion, SIMAX, Chandos etc.

The audition will take place at Örebro Concert Hall, Örebro on the 13th of October.

The repertoire for the audition will be:

1. Solo repertoire:

  • Stamitz Viola Concerto in D major
    1st movt until bar 91, no cadenza
    or
  • Hoffmeister Viola Concerto in D major
    1st movt until bar 135, no cadenza
    and
  • Bartok or Walton Viola Concerto
    1st movt only
    or
  • Hindemith Der Schwanendreher
    1st movt only

  • L v Beethoven Symphony No 5, 2nd & 3rd movt
